​Role Overview

​​Our Social Work Assistants play an important role in helping adults across Milton Keynes maintain their independence, improve their wellbeing and achieve the outcomes that matter most to them. Working as part of Adult Social Care, they provide practical support, carry out assessments and reviews, and work alongside individuals, families, carers and partner organisations to ensure people receive the right support at the right time.

The role involves supporting adults with a range of care and support needs, helping to identify strengths within their communities and networks, developing care and support plans, and contributing to safeguarding work when concerns are identified. Social Work Assistants manage a caseload with guidance from experienced colleagues and use professional judgement to help achieve positive outcomes for the people they support.

A key part of the role is building strong relationships with individuals, carers, families and health and social care professionals. Social Work Assistants regularly review progress, record interventions accurately and provide practical, one-off support where needed to promote independence and reduce reliance on services.​

Key requirements​​

• Ideally hold a Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification (or equivalent).

• Alternatively, have substantial relevant experience and practical knowledge gained in a health or social care setting.

• Confident using IT systems to maintain accurate records.

• Committed to ongoing learning and professional development.
