​Role Overview

Our Newly Qualified Social Workers play a vital role in supporting adults across Milton Keynes to live safe, independent and fulfilling lives. Working within Adult Social Care, you'll build professional relationships with individuals, families, carers and partner organisations, helping people identify their strengths, achieve their goals and access the right support at the right time. The role forms part of our Assessed and Supported Year in Employment programme, providing structured development and support as you begin your social work career.

The role involves managing a caseload of adults with a range of care and support needs, undertaking assessments, identifying and responding to risk, and developing person-centred plans that promote independence and wellbeing. You'll apply strength-based practice, use professional curiosity to explore individual circumstances and contribute to safeguarding interventions where concerns are identified. Accurate recording, effective case management and professional decision-making are key elements of the role.

A key part of the role is working collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies to coordinate support and achieve positive outcomes. Newly Qualified Social Workers are encouraged to reflect on their practice, develop their expertise through continuing professional development and work in accordance with Social Work England standards, ethical social work practice and Milton Keynes City Council's values of being Dedicated, Respectful and Collaborative.

​​​Key requirements​​

• Hold a recognised social work qualification (Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent).

• Be registered with Social Work England.

• Be accepted onto the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment programme.

• Commit to ongoing learning, continuing professional development and completion of the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment requirements.

• Able to manage a caseload, maintain accurate records and complete reports within agreed timescales.

• Confident using information technology systems to record information and communicate effectively.

• Able to travel to meet service delivery requirements.

• Committed to ethical social work practice, safeguarding and achieving positive outcomes for adults.
