At Milton Keynes Council, we are looking for caring and compassionate people to join our Adult Social Care teams across a variety of roles. We are interested in all applicants who are passionate about supporting adults with care and support needs.

There are a wide variety of care services and roles you can work in at Milton Keynes Adult Social Care, from being a team leader within day services for people with learning disabilities to a care assistant in supported living for the elderly or, even out in the community as a home carer.

The Shared Lives MK scheme supports adults with learning disabilities, mental health problems, dementia, or other needs that make it harder for them to live on their own.

Learning Disabilities Services

 

Milton Keynes Learning Disability Services provide a range of services to people who are aged 18 years and over.

The service is accessed following an assessment of eligibility completed by the Community Team for Adult with Learning Disabilities. It can offer support to adults with learning disabilities who have complex needs providing a range of individual support. 

There are 2 services, at Tower Drive Neath Hill and Whaddon Way Bletchley, which offer a range of social, sensory, and physical activities either within the building base or using different resources across MK.

The staff work closely with health and social care professionals, each person using the service will have a detailed individual support plan to meet their physical and emotional needs.

Older Persons Services

Milton Keynes Council older persons day care services aim to improve the quality of life for individuals, enabling them to socialise with others in a relaxed community setting. We support physical and emotional needs by providing a flexible, warm, and friendly environment that assists with maintaining ongoing independence.

  • Monday to Friday day service

  • Respite for carers

  • Transport to and from the centre in our wheelchair-accessible minibus (Subject to a fixed charge).

  • Hot two course meal - able to meet individuals’ dietary requirements (Subject to a fixed charge).

  • Well trained staff – trained to MKC standards

  • All staff are DBS cleared, for working with vulnerable adults

  • Provide support with personal care needs

Our attendees enjoy a wide variety of activities such

  • Gentle exercise

  • Singing and music

  • Games & Quizzes

  • Arts and crafts

  • Entertainment events

Our Day Care Centres are: Simpson Day Care Service and Kitchener. There is also an interim service at the Council's Tower Drive premises.

 

Shared Lives MK

Shared Lives care is based on a principle of shared interests and lifestyles.

 

The Shared Lives MK scheme supports adults with learning disabilities, mental health problems, dementia, or other needs that make it harder for them to live on their own.

 

The scheme matches someone who needs care and support with an approved carer so that they can live with the support of a family and community network. It is an alternative to supported living or residential care.

 

Almost anybody can become a Shared Lives carer; it is all about finding the right person for you to connect with.

The most important thing is you have an interest in others, have the ability to respond to the needs of those around you, and communicate well with others.
